Bad elbow sends Red Sox's Beckett to DL (AP)

Josh Beckett was put on the 15-day disabled list Friday because of a strained right elbow after the Boston ace was examined by Dr. James Andrews. The Atlanta Braves added a veteran arm Friday, activating Elmer Dessens two days after agreeing to terms with the right-hander.
